Third-Generation Behavioral Therapy
Registration and Process
Your general practitioner or another doctor may recommend that therapy could be beneficial for you, but the decision is ultimately yours to make.
I work by appointment only. During the first contact, we will discuss the problem and your expectations. From the outset, we focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship. This is important because, like any relationship, the therapeutic one can sometimes go through difficult moments. Finally, the client will always receive a bit of homework to ensure that the process of awareness and healing continues throughout the week.
At the beginning of the therapy, we identify where the problem lies and what is truly happening, although new elements may emerge throughout the course of therapy, enriching and enhancing the process. All information is viewed within a holistic model, where everything is interconnected, including the problems and the factors that caused and maintain them.
We will then select one problem situation as a starting point, because trying to solve everything at once is an impossible task. Gradually, the tangle in which you feel trapped will be unraveled. During the sessions, we talk and practice, and what is learned is further applied at home.
At first, sessions will be closer together, for example, weekly. But as the client begins to feel more confident and better, contact with the therapist will become less frequent. Many problems can be fairly resolved within an average of 10 to 12 sessions, but some people need more time. Other problems are too complex to be addressed in a short timeframe. The number of sessions and their frequency are determined on an individual basis.
